The trail jewel in the Odenwald, which offers more than 7 kilometers of pure singletrail descents and invites you to linger in tranquil Michelstadt after the tour. The route is only suitable for experienced riders with the appropriate equipment.
The circular tour begins and ends in the beautiful old town of Michelstadt, so you can enjoy all the culinary highlights and refreshment stops along the way. The existing forest road network is used for the uphill sections, while all the downhill sections are designed and used exclusively by bikers. The route starts at the Bienenmarkt parking lot and leads through the beautiful old town of Michelstadt with all its cafés, restaurants and stores past the historic town hall. You still have to refrain from stopping and taking a break! Leaving Michelstadt at the cemetery, the first highlights await via the Gräsich past the old limestone quarry: the Kirchberg Trail, past the Stockheimer Eiche to the Kilians Trail – a short, crisp rollercoaster ride -, the Hermannstempel with a great view over the Middle Odenwald, the Kreuzweg Trail and finally the Viehtrieb Trail down to the parking lot at the forest swimming pool. This is followed by the first long climb up to the snake trail and the Ritterstein trail – an almost two-kilometer descent with everything a biker’s heart desires: berms, switchbacks, small jumps, sometimes faster sections, then slower sections again. Everything is on offer here. Now it’s time for the second, longer ascent. Passing the Habermannskreuz parking lot, one of the two alternative starting points, you reach the highest point of the route at just over 500 m above sea level. Then it’s time to have fun again, as the following trail segments lead back down to the parking lot at the forest swimming pool, interrupted only by two smaller climbs. The Silvan trail inspires with a rollercoaster-like flow, the following root path really shakes us up, the Enge Ding with the blocked Dreggs thing is the section for riding technicians who love an alpine feeling, and the Mühlgrund trail inspires as a natural pump track. A short breather is followed by the Bürgermeister section, which is absolutely flowing and wonderful to ride, and finally the Schwimmbad trail, which is also almost two kilometers long and puts a big grin on the biker’s face for the finale. The route then leads back through the old town, where an ice cream or a hoppy cold drink awaits the bikers as a reward. There are opportunities to rest everywhere and the route can also be shortened at various points – the “small loop” (approx. 10 km & 240 m elevation gain) and the “medium loop” (approx. 21 km & 580 m elevation gain) are available for this. The whole – sporty – family is sure to have fun on one of the three tours.
