The route is characterized by magnificent views as well as physical and riding challenges. Essentially, the route has been chosen so that the climbs on forest paths are long and even with only short steep sections and the descents consist of short, direct and challenging sections on single trails and forest paths. The entire route runs along the ridge to the west of Fürth via Erzberg, Wagenberg and Fahrenbacher Kopf and offers magnificent views across the entire Weschnitz valley to the castles in Weinheim, Starkenburg Castle in Heppenheim and Lindenfels Castle. The ride begins with a flat section, mostly on asphalt, from Fürth via Kröckelbach to Brombach. From Brombach, the route then climbs steadily up to the 484m high Erzberg. From the highest point, the route leads directly downhill, mostly on single trail, to the edge of the forest above Fürth with a magnificent viewpoint. The second uphill section then leads past the Waldgaststätte Altlechtern and ends approx. 400m after the Waldgaststätte in a longer descent down to the start of the Altlechten valley. From here, the third long climb leads up to the 535m high Wagenberg, where the highest point of the route is reached. After beautiful gentle single trail downhill sections on the ridge, in which a “short, crisp climb over a root path” is embedded, the most challenging part of the route in terms of gradient follows up to the Fahrenbacher Kopf. Steep, narrow, short. If you can’t make it, you can push. The reward is the long descent to Fahrenbach, first in the forest and then across the fields with another magnificent view far into the Weschnitz valley. From Fahrenbach, the route back to Fürth begins with a final small ascent via the Wolfsgarten field and Steinbacher Straße back to the center of Fürth.
