Aschbach Ab1
“
A technically and physically easy tour, with one long and many smaller climbs and descents. It crosses the idyllic Wiesengrund and there is also a connection to the Gras-Ellenbach and Wald-Michelbach MTB circuits.
A technically and physically easier tour that starts from the starting point (Lochbrunnen parking lot) and leads steeply uphill out of Aschbach and a little later below the Bocksberg down to Wald-Michelbach, where you first cross the country road and reach the Wald-Michelbach Neustadt area. The route continues along the Ulfenbach valley through Binzig to the hamlet of Straßburg, where the route turns off into the forest again. Parallel to the Ulfenbach stream, the route takes you comfortably downstream, first through Ober-Schönmattenwag and, following the country road for a short distance, finally to Unter-Schönmattenwag. There you turn left and the longest, partly asphalted ascent of the tour follows (approx. 200 m). At the top, turn left again at a crossroads and a wayside shrine, heading north and into the forest. Another short ascent takes you over the 485-metre-high Geiersberg and further on along easy forest paths to the Faltersruhe nature reserve, where it is not far to the popular refreshment stop in the small Rothenberg district of Raubach. Continue on undulating forest paths to the highest point of the tour below the small Meisenberg. Shortly before this, you pass a crossroads with a connection to the Affolterbacher Höhe and the Gras-Ellenbach circular route (Gr-E 1). A long descent now takes you down to the edge of the forest in the village of Affolterbach. There, the tour turns south again and becomes a little more technically demanding. Passing the Roßbrunnen fountain, the route takes you over a final ascent above Aschbach and back down to the village via a trail. We return to the starting point through the idyllic meadow. From here, a connection also branches off down to the Wald-Michelbach MTB circuit (Wa1).
