Groß-Umstadt GU1

The approx. 36 km long route with an elevation gain of approx. 880 meters starts and ends very close to the market square of Groß-Umstadt at the Heinrich Klein Halle. Parking spaces are available here for visitors arriving by car. The route starts in a northerly direction, past the Rewe market. Opposite you take the cycle path to Klein-Umstadt. Before the Klein-Umstadt “climb”, the route crosses the L3065 at the traffic lights and heads straight into the Klein-Umstadt vineyards. The first test comes after about 150 meters. Anyone who masters this climb in the saddle can assume that they are in good training condition. Once at the top, follow the signs through the vineyards towards Ziegelwald. Leave the Ziegelwald forest on the left on a narrow path and then head towards Raibacher Tal. At the riding club grounds, cross the L3413 in the direction of the campsite, taking traffic into account. Following the signs, the path leads us past the former landfill site in the direction of Rödelshäuschen. Now it flattens out a little and you can catch your breath. The route continues in the direction of Hexenhäuschen, which you do not reach, however, as the route turns right beforehand in the direction of Kissinger Wünzerhütte. The way there leads downhill through a beautiful hollow trail. At the bottom, the route turns left twice and winds its way up the next few meters of altitude on a beautiful trail. Now the trail leads mostly along natural forest paths towards Heubach. In Heubach, the route goes past the Wiesentalhalle, along the edge of the forest towards the forest lake, which is fed by the Heinrich Rauch spring. From here, the route climbs steadily until you reach the highlight of the route. A trail that is great fun leads back to Heubach. The route now crosses the main road and leads back to Groß-Umstadt via the Steinerwald forest.
