The Si1 is technically not too difficult, but requires a good level of fitness. If you want even more, you can combine the Abtsteinach route with the nearby Wald-Michelbach and Aschbach circuits.
The circuit starts at the “Hardberg” parking lot near the Siedelsbrunn community center. From here there is already a direct connection to the A1 Abtsteinach circuit. The Si1 is technically not too difficult, but requires a good level of fitness. The route first leads through the tranquil village of Siedelsbrunn. Before you pass the Systelios Clinic and enter the forest, which you will not leave for the next 25 kilometers, you have a wonderful view of the Tromm and the northern Ulfenbach valley. After approx. 4.5 km on moderate to very good forest paths, the first slight ascent leads to the Adlerstein geopoint, one of the most famous boundary stones in the Odenwald. The following longer, gently sloping descent towards Eichköpfl leads to just before the Baden border, where you can refresh yourself at a spring near a clearing. If you miss this, the small hamlet of “Schönbrunn” is a popular place to stop for a break. The subsequent descent offers relaxation before a longer, energy-sapping climb to the Dr. Ritter Hütte and just below the Stillfüssel wind farm. On well-maintained forest paths, the route leads to the “Zollstock” crossroads, then around the Kottenberg, from where you have a fantastic view towards Rothenberg and the southern Ulfenbach valley, to the “Wolfsloch”. A final ascent follows before the forest opens up the view of Siedelsbrunn and you return to the starting point through the village. If you want even more, you can combine the Abtsteinach route with the nearby Wald-Michelbach and Aschbach circuits.
